Established SDA in 1987 with offices in New York and Honolulu. Her high energy and creativity have built lasting ties to high-profile media and partners and inspired the top award whenever the firm has entered a competition.

Sheila has spoken on luxury hotel and spa business trends at Harvard and Cornell. On the more serious side, she provided counsel on community relations in tiny communities and issues as global as terrorism in Mumbai.

Gardening is meditation and a wonderful opportunity for creative thinking. I’ve nurtured 32 rose bushes in our Cape CID gardens. Each rose represents a bright thought for favorite clients.
We have nurtured a bamboo forest in Hawaii’i. From one culm of Lakota, Indonesian Black Bamboo (atrovilacea) grew 40’ clumping, noninvasive bamboo.
Where did it all begin? With the Loo Akau family in front of their player piano on Kino’ole Street in Hilo. Don’t I look a little bit like her?
We celebrate 26 years of marriage in 2022. Our longest-standing client has been around the whole time—and that’s normal for us. Nothing gets same same. We are constantly tending and creating.
